Guidelines and Rules

The Youth Conference was created to achieve the following four objectives:

The conference is designed for Bible students desiring and committed to learning more about God's word. In order to maintain a spiritual focus around God's word it is important that attendees are committed to the conference concept and all of the following guidelines.

If you decide to attend the conference, you must agree to uphold the spirit and letter of these guidelines and rules. If you are not committed to any of the rules or guidelines described below then please do not register for the conference. If the rules are not respected you may be asked to leave the conference and may be asked to refrain from coming to the conference in the future.

These guidelines and rules have been developed to:

Personal Conduct

Full cooperation is to be given to committee and support staff at the conference.

We ask that ALL subjects discussed at the conference be of an edifying nature. LET US ALL be committed to encouraging every attendee in spiritual things, whether we are at memorial meeting, IN a discussion group, or AT a camp site.

Prompt attendance is required at all scheduled activities unless the activity is marked as "optional".

All attendees must observe the curfew guidelines for the conference. All attendees must be on a site of the same gender and quiet by 11:15 PM, and on their own site and lights out by 12:15 AM. The number of attendees present at any given campsite after 11:15 PM is not to exceed 12.

All clothing should be modest and reflect a godly character. All clothing should be neat and tidy, free of tatters and tears at all times. Men should wear shirts at all times except at the beach. Women should not wear bikinis, halter tops, mini-skirts, short shorts, etc.

Discussion Groups, Evening Program and Memorial Meeting: Wear clothes suitable for ecclesial classes. No shorts, pajamas, sweatpants, etc. should be worn to any classes. Jeans should not be worn to memorial meetings. Wear shoes or sandals to all classes. Sisters should wear a head covering to all classes, including discussion groups.

Men and women are to stay out of tents and trailers of the opposite sex.

Protection of Privacy and Use of Information

By registering for conference you agree to allow your Information (including for example, registration information, email information, pictures and videos before, at and after the conference) to be used as determined best by the Youth Conference Committee for the purposes of the Youth Conference and its associated activities. Health information will be restricted to those operating the conference in various capacities. Email addresses and basic contact information may be shared broadly including with other Youth Conference attendees. You will in no way hold responsible the Youth Conference Committee, any Youth Conference committee member, support staff, or attendee for any errors or issues pertaining to the protection of your personal information.

Operation of the Camp

Camp groups are to operate together for camping, sleeping and eating arrangements. Sleep at your assigned location or site. Eat with your own group. Help with set up, cooking, dishes etc.

Remember, camp coordinators and support staff are not your mothers!

Use of Grounds

At the Manitoulin Island Bible Camp facility attendees must stay within the camp during the week. The land outside the fence and gates does not belong to the camp. When on other land it is considered trespassing. Trespassing will not be tolerated at the conference and will be dealt with up to and including expulsion from the camp. The land owners will assume no responsibility for any injuries sustained by camp attendees that occur on the camp property or surrounding property. Any need to leave the camp should be for emergency purposes only. Please speak to the assigned committee member.

All garbage, which can be recycled must be separated and emptied into the appropriate marked bins at the specified locations. Other garbage is to be placed in plastic bags and tied and then deposited at the assigned location. At Manitoulin this is in the trailer at the generator room behind the washrooms. Do not deposit garbage on the grounds including in the barrels that do not have a plastic bag in them.

Do not cut any live trees or branches.

Speed limit on access road to the Manitoulin facility is 30 km/h and within the camp a very slow 10 km/h.
